Engine repairs to the expedition ships Bear of Oakland ' and Jacob Euppert, whieli,, have be.en;.iaid-';tip 'at Dunedin and Port Chalmers since their return from the ice, are well under way. The foremast of the Bear of Oakland was . lifted out today ;in preparation for stepping the new one. The new spar arrived at.-Auckland from Puget Spuiid 'by 'the Wairuha, and is of Douglas fir, 78 feet long and 4J feet in diameter. Only one will in the Dominion is ablo to carry out the work, ion account- at the length, and the log will be squared to the appropriate size at Auckland. The mast will bo brought to Dunedin by the Waipiata .and stepped by an electric crane. A new jibboom, will also ibe shipped and new rigging' will arrive from New York shortly. Mr. liincoln, Ellsworth's ship, the Wyatt Earp, will leave here next month for South America.
