ITALIAN CLUB
' The fortnightly meeting o£ the Italian Club .was held last Thursday evening in the rooms oi the Pioneer Club. After the regular lesson, conducted by the patron, Gay. Dott. G-. Formichella, and the advanced conversation .class, under the leadership of Signor Carrara, Signor Cesaroni presented a most enjoyable programme as follo\Ys:-^"Spirito gentil," from "La Favorita" (Donizetti), Mr. Roy Trewern; Santuzza's Romance from "Cavalleria Rusticana" (Mascagni), Signora Aida Bulrnas, followed by "La Paloma" and "Mariuarella" (Signora Biilmas being accompanied by Mr. Paul Vinogradoff); pianoforte solo, Etude (Liszt), Miss Mavis Dillon; romance, "Ballo In Maschera" (Verdi), Signor Cesaroni; pianoforte solo, "Paraphrase dv Concert," from "Rigoletto" (Liszt), Mr. Paul Vinogradoff; Trio from L'Opera Lombardi (Miss- Doris Black, Signor Cesaroni, and Mr. Roy Trewern). Miss M. Dillon was accom-, j panst during the evening. During the evening Signor V. A. Truda gave a short account of the life of Petrarch, and read one of his sonnets, "G-iovinezza," and supper concluded the evening.
