LONG CYCLE RACE
PALMERSTON-WELLINGTON
A special meeting of the sub-committee appointed jto make arrangements fov the forthcoming Palmerston North-Wellington cycle race was held last evening, Mr. H. J. Dutton presiding.
As the Basin Reserve will not be available for the finish of the race, which is to be held on October 20, it was decided to approach the Petone Borough Council for the use of the Petone -Oval! Should'the necessary permission be granted competitors will be required to ride across the railway line, proceed along the waterfront to Buick Str.eet, thence into the Oval.
To encourage competitors to complete the course, certificates are to be awarded those who finish the contest.
The limit for the race is to be not less than sixty minutes. The entry fee is ,ss. Entries are to close on October 6; and handicaps are to be announced' a week later. . : ■
All official cars are to be equipped with ambulance outfits, ■ and ambulance officers will be asked to be in attendance. There will be feeding stations at Levin, Otaki, Paraparaumn, and Porirua, milk and oranges to be supplied to competitors.
