ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

.Tloferring to the work which would devolve upon the recently-formed Commandery of the Venerable Order of St. John iii New Zealand, Colonel G. Barclay, Director of Ambulance and Chief Commissioner of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, stated that the ambulance committee of the Commandery Chapter had had I referred to it for consideration and report many matters of ..vita] interest to the future activities of the Order in this Dominion. One object aimed at was the establishment of sub-centres or branches of the St. John Ambulance Association in all towns of a suitable size, and the executives of the various centres of the association had already been requested to take action in the matter. It would be the duty of such sub-centres or branches to set up committees for the purpose of inaugurating classes of instruction in first aid, homenursing, etc., and also to devise schemes for the establishment at some future time of district nursing, ambulance transport, etc.. and generally to promote'the objects iof the Order of St. John.

The following appointments in the Wellington District have been approved by the Chief Commissioner:—Wellington Division: Herbert S. Glensor to be ambulance officer. Cyril Baddeley to be corporal. Petone Division: Alfred W. Henry to be divisional secretary. Miramar Nursing Division: Mrs. Gladys Kiernan to be lady' ambulance officer. Nelson Cadet Ambulance Division: .Sidney Chas. Davis to be cadet superintendent. ;
