TODAY'S PROCEEDINGS
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
The Legislative Council met at 2.30
Continuing the Address-in-licply aobato the, Hon. T. Bloodworth said that the change for the better in the economic conditions was due to conditions overseas rather than action in New Zealand. Great Britain could not continue her traditional trading policy, and that fact would have to bo acknowledged by New Zealand. He deplored the fact that New Zealand had only once been represented at the International Labour Conference, called by the League of Nations. It behoved the Dominion to put before other countries her experience in the administration of labour laws.
Mr. Bloodworth said that he was pleased that the Government was considering the reform of local government. As far as the Auckland district was concerned, there was no- improvement in the unemployment situation. The administration of the unemployment funds and the sustenance allowance was causing widespread dissatisfaction. .
