TO STAND TRIAL
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE
, (By Telegraph—Press Association.) . CHRISTCHURCH, July 10. This afternoon Alfred Spencer Wilson, aged 25. was committed for trial on a charge of attempted , murder, a sequelto the alleged hold-up of a van. driver, Herbert B. Kissel, on Newton Road, between Templeton and West Melton, on April 10. In the course of the concluding evidence, Professor Powell, of Canterbury College, said that from tests made he was satisfied that the bullet in the van had been fired from the rifle handed him by the police. /
Detective Thompson told of an interview with Wilson, at Paparua prison, where he is at present serving a sentence. "Wilson denied his guilt, but also said: "If I am found guilty of this what will "I get, and will it wipe out. the sentence I am at present serving?"
