HEROIC STRUGGLE
DRAMA OF CRICKET
HOPE OF SAVING MATCH
(Received July 10, noon.) LONDON, July 9. -Commenting on the progress of the third, Test match, the Australian Press Association representative says: "The clay's heroic uphill fight, full of drama with ' Bradman and Chipperfield leaving the sick room to play important parts, leaves Australia with. 55 still needed . to save a f oilow-on, on which the result of the match still largely depends. The Australian batsmen enjoyed slices ■of luck, which partly compensated for the disabilities of Bradman and Chipperfield. "It will mean the utmost ' effort from Chipperfield, with O'Reilly and Wall batting above thepselves, to save a follow-on. England may fail to force victory tomorrow unless the wicket is vastly more difficult than, it was today. Meanwhile, the forecast is for fine warm weather. "It is almost entirely due to McCabe's aggressive opening that Australia has-so far improved the situation as to warrant the hope of saving the match. Bradman and Chipperfield did more than could reasonably have been expected from them, considering their ill health." J. B. Hobbs says that Australia may still save the match. •
