MATAKI.

For the week ended May 12 Mataki returned 420z for 127 hours. The mine manager reports: The dredge pulled ahead 33ft and the average depth was 18ft. The face now measures 420 ft, and we are still opening out. The wash showed an improvement during the week right across the face. On the inside of the cut we encountered a. considerable amount of timber which somewhat affected the yardage, otherwise 'the dredge worked well.
