GREETINGS. FROM THE FORCES
Tho Minister of Defence in Australia, Sir ,George Pearce, urges full co-opera-tion between Australia and New Zealand in defence, the surest guarantee of peace:-— My dear Minister of .Defence, — I desire to take this opportunity, on the occasion of a special good-will flight from Australia to New Zealand by Flight-Lieutenant C. T. P. trim, in tho Faith in Australia, of extending to you and the administrators under your control very hearty greetings from myself and the officers of the Defence Department in Australia.
I also wish to convey, on behalf of the Navy, Army, and Air Board, the greetings of tho Australian fighting services to their brother services in New Zealand.
The present difficult state of world affairs, arising from international .jealousies and commercial'restrictions, impel us as a loyal people to seriously consider the adequacy of our means of defence, for which purpose, and the hope of peace, the fighting services of the British Empire alone exist. AYe feel that.th'o common ties of blood and kindred and the glorious heritage of -achievement- in nation-building which has been bequeathed by our common forefathers calls tothe peoples of the Dominion.and the Commonwealth to maintain in a very real sense that spirit of brotherly co-operation which has always existed and which was so gloriously exemplified in the Great War.
May our combined efforts ever give to these, our own lands of the farflung commonwealth of nations, a lasting and prosperous peace. Yours faithfully,
G. F. PEARCE.
