PRICES AT CARTERTON

Wright, Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., ottered.heavy yavdinss of pigs and cattle and several pens of sheep at the Carterton sale yesterday. Sheep sold readily at prices in advance of recent sales, while pigs also made good values, particularly weaners and stores, which sold above venders expectations. A keen demand exists for springing cows and heifers, but store cattle are saleable only at reduced values. Prices were:— Sheep.—Forward, w.f. lambs, 17s 4d to 17s Gd; empty ewes, Ss to 12s; ewes, r.w. 0.D., 12s Cd.

Cattle.—Springing cows. £4 7s Gd to ±.»; springing heifers.- £3 to £3 10s;. cows just calved, £4 10s to £5 2s Gd; heifers, r.w.!).,.£ I Us to £1 19s; empty yearling heifers, 35s to 375; cows in milk, due factory dates, 30s to 38s; weaner heifers. 12s oa to IGs; fat cows (dairy). £2 to £2 15sforward empty cows, 25s to 345; store cows, l^s 6d to 22s Gd; potter bulls, 30s to £2
