A NOTED PREACHER
DR. F. W. NORWOODS VISIT
In the course of a world tour during which he has visited South Africa, Japan, China, and India, the Rev. Dr. F. W. Norwood, of the City Temple, London, a distinguished preacher and one of the outstanding Congregationalists of the day, will arrive in Wellington from Australia on.June 11. He is one of the most prominent Church, leaders in England, and he enjoys a wide popularity in the United States and in Australia, where he began his ministry. He was born in Bendigo, Victoria, and before leaving for the war as a lecturer for the Y.M.CiA., he was a minister of Baptist churches at Canterbury, Brunswick, and North Adelaide, South Australia. In 1919 Dr. Norwood was 'invited to the City Temple/the stronghold of English Congregationalism, where he succeeded Dr. Joseph Fort Newton, also a noted preacher.
While in Wellington Dr. Norwood.will be the chief guest at a banquet to-be given by the V.M.C.A. A mass demonstration of youth has also been arranged in his honour. He is to. be entertained by the Congregational Churches of Wellington, and, in addition, will meet ministers of the various denominations in the city. Since the war Dr. Norwood has been campaigning in the cause of world peace, and an invitation has already been extended to him to give an address under the auspices of the Wellingtojh branch of. the League of Nations Union. ;;
