KELBURN PARK MEETING

ST. GILES TEAM WINS

SI. Giles J'losb.vlrriiiii Church loam, with a total of 29 2-5 points, woro the winners of the Vance-Vivian Championship Banner, competed for on' Saturday afternoon at the annual inter-Bible class sports meeting bold at Kelburn Z'ark under the management of the Wellington Inter-Bible Class Council. IScrluunporc Baptist Church representatives, winners of the banner the previous year, scored "_'(3 points and were the iiinueis-up. The Kelburn I'rcsbvteriiin Church team, with .12 points, were third, and the Kent Terrace J'resbyteriau Clinrcli team, which scored 11 points, wore fourth.

Representatives of twenty-two churches took part, and among the competitors were a number of athletes who belong to various AVclliugton amateur athletic clubs, There were three grades of competition— senior, intermediate, and junior—tho winners of the banner being determined on the aggregate points scored iii the three divisions. Tho programme was a big one, and owing to the fact that there was never more than one event ou at a.' time—the jumping events were not sandwiched in between the flat races, as is usually done—it took a long time to put through the meeting, which lasted well over three hours. .Mr. P. Wilson, well known as a harrier and a track runner for a number of years, was the director of the meeting, and Mr. T. W. Leslie was the starter. At the conclusion of the sports Mr. Lcn J. Grecnbcrg, general secretary of the V.M.C.A., presented the banner to the winning team, congratulating them and also the rmincrs-up on their performances.
