WORLD WHEAT CROP

EFFORT TO RAISE PRICES

("Times" Cable.) EOME, April 6. The sittings of the International Wheat Committee have opened. The committee is seeking an agreement to raiso the price by reducing exports or not selling abroad below a predetermined price.

The discussions denote progress towards implementing a wheat agreement.

In a report on the crop situation, it was revealed that the American carryover would probably amount to 100,000,000 bushels.

The Australian wheat area will probably be reduced; Argentina is not restricting cultivation; Canadian sowings will be' 15 per cent, lower; Russia is substituting wheat for rye; Germany has a slightly reduced area. Britain's increase in area of 6 per cent, would lead to a pro rata reduction of subsidy.
