SEVERE INJURIES
ACCIDENT ON CAR TRACK
When he was run over by a ear on the Kclburn cable car track ■ about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon Mr. "Walter Sant, aged 52, of 5 Hadfield Terrace, .Kclburn, received injuries to Ms head and ribs, and his two legs were fractured^ Ho was: taken to the "Wellington Hospital by the- Free Ambulance, and his condition on. admission was regarded as serious. It was stated today that he was operated upon last night, and that his condition this morning showed a slight improvement.
Mr. Sant has had long service as an employee of the Kelburne and Karori Tramway Company,' Ltd. Until the electrification of the service last year he was an engine-driver in the powerhouse at the- top of Kelburn. At the time of the accident, which occurred at the Salamanca. Koad stopping place, ho ■•was engaged in oiling the cables on the car track. - .
No^ particulars were available today as to how Mr. Sant came to be run over. .
