In the meantime, the Mayor (Mr. N. G. Armstrong) has. been, authorised to ask the Minister of Public Works to permit one of tho Department's inspecting engineers to co-operate with Mr. Bow. It is understood that the inspection up to I date has revealed that the pillars of tho structure are-sound, but that the repairs which would naturally become essential after many years of use should not bo delayed any longer.
