NEGLIGENT DRIVING

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A sequel to an accident at Kaikoura on New Year's Day, as a result of which James Gibson, aged 61 was killed, was heard in the Kaikoura Court when Francis Hcudry, a baker, was convicted of negligently driving a motor-car, and was fined £50. ■ The police stated that the defendant's car travelled 50ft along the grass at the roadside, and struck a post with such forco that tho post was dislodged 4in and split 12ft up from the ground The post was of hardwood. Gibson who was in the ear, was thrown out against the post and killed.
