FINE WEATHER
FAVOURABLE PROSPECTS
The present spell of fine weather is likely to continue, according to the forecast issued at noon today. Winds northwards, ef East Cape will be southerhes or south-easterlies, tut elsewhere westerlies to south-westerlies may be expected. In the far north winds will bo strong, but otherwise they will be only moderate in force. Fine and warm weather generally is forecast, although some showers are probable in the. northern and southern extremities of the Dominion. Showers or misty rain yesterday in South Westland and Otago were associated with the passage in the south of a slight low pressure wave, but an anticyclone still covers New Zealand and most parts of the.country have had a continuance of fine weather. Winds mainly north-west to west in direction' have been strong at times in Cook and ioveaux Straits, but otherwise they have been only moderate in force. Since yesterday, however, winds have become south-westerly.in a number.of places. Auckland had beautifully fine and sunny weather yesterday, with a light southerly wind. " -
Wellington's weather was -mild and mostly sunny, 10.2 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. Tho northerly wind, however, was unpleasantly strong, but it decreased in force during the afternoon and evening. Clnistcliurch had a warm and cloudy day, with little wind, a light northeasterly prevailing in the afternoon. Dunedin's weather was calm and mostly dull, light rain falling there yesterday morning and again this morning. •
