HOUSES DAMAGED BY FIRE
■A, single-storeyed ; wooden residence [Of five roonis, occupied by Mr. F. A. Blake, situated at 7.lwi Street, Ngaio, was severely damaged by fire on Saturday night. The house occupied a prominent site in Ngaio, and the glare of the fire could be seen from tho Central Fire Station. The family living in/the house left home about 7.30 p.m., and the alarm wa^ given at 9.59 p.m. Machines from the Central, Thorndon, and Khandallah stations were quickly on the scene, but the flames by that time had a firm hold throughout the house.. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. A minor outbreak of fire occurred on Saturday afternoon at the residence of Mr. T. E. T. Seddon at la Wadestown Eoad. The wall of one room was damaged by fire. The cause appeared to have been a defective boiler furnace flue. ',' ' ' . ■ " " * ■ ' '
