DEDICATION SERVICE
ST. DAVID'S SUNDAY SCHOOL
A dedication service in connection with the extensions of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Petone, was .held yesterday afternoon. The size of the building has been doubled, giving a large auditorium for the bunday School work. A room has been added for the primary department, a kitchen installed, and provision made for separating the classes. New seating accommodation has been provided throughout tho Sunday School. The St. David's Church property is free of debt, and the amount for the building, £500, was raised on the property in the meantime. Outside the doors of the Sunday School tlie Bey. J. C. Loan, minister of St. David's, gave a short address, in which he expressed gratitude to the builder, Mr. H. C. Nicholls. The building of the Sunday School, he said, was a great gain to tbe youth work of the Church, for the growth of the Church today came more from the Bible Class and the Sunday School than from outeide. Mr. Loan presented Mr. J. Nesbit, an elder of-the Church, with the keys of the door and also an inscribed gold key from the builder. After the opening of the door, the children and teachers entered the building and took their places while the organist, Mr. W. H. Eennie^ played a voluntary. ' .•:■■■,-. The Rev. J. R. Blanchard, Moderator of the Wellington Presbytery, and the Revs. J. E. Lopdell, J. T. Macky, and Loan, and office; bearers of the Church, were on the platform.' " " j The service of dedication was a most j impressive one, and was conducted by Mr. Blanchard, who, on behalf of the Presbytery, congratulated the Presbyterians at Petone on their forward step in erecting this fine type of building. Mr. Loan described briefly how the building had come into being, and thanked the visiting ministers for their attendance. Mr. D. J. Thomson, superintendent of the Sunday School, then formally accepted the charge of the building, and expressed his gratitude for what had been done for the Sunday School.
