CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
PLAY IN THE PAIRS Eighteen clubs are represented in the champion of champions pairs' tournament, which is being played under the auspices of the Wellington Bowling Centre on the Hataitai green today and tomorrow. Much interest is always taken in the finding of the centre champions from amongst those who are sent forward as champions of their clubs, and the play in the pairs today attracted quite a large gallery, those present being- treated to some excellent play as well as some very keen gpmes with exceedingly close finishes. In two of five games played before lunch, today wins were registered by a single point, and in another an extra head was necessary to determine the winners. The green was in splendid order, but early in the day the wind had an effect upon play, though this disturbing element was greatly lessened during the progress of play, the weather, becoming very pleasant towards. midday. The semi-finals and final are to be played tomorrow. . .
