The February report on the operations of Alexander Mines, : Ltd., is as follows:— No. .3 intermediate drive north: Driving has been continued with one shift only, the* face now being 177 ft north of crosscut.- The lode has been narrow most of the period,- but .has now widened, the face showing, stone about 3ft in width. N0.4 north drive: The position of face is now 127 ft from crosscut, 117 ft of this being on stone. The'last' 10ft has been on reef track only,'carrying a few small boulders of stone. Erom indications showing in the leading.stope above this level this body of ore is still continuing on its strike to the northward above the level. Stoping: Stoping has been carried on as usual in No. 3 intermediate and No. 4 backs. The stopes above No. 4 level look well the reet varying from 3ft to 6ft in width Surface works: The water was turned on in the new water-race on the 24th instant, and has been running constantly since, no trouble occurring. The excavation for the -upper power-house has been completed, and a few days' work will finish the lower one. A-stop-work meeting was held by Iv employees on the 7th and another on the 27th, when it was decided to cease work. The mine and works are now idle. Battery: 245 tons were sent to the battery and crushed for a return of 190oz I 1 S £o!?i el _etl B°ld.
