ATTACK ON PREMIER
(Received March 6, 3 p.m.) TORONTO, March 5. Armed soldiers patrolled the Supreme Court area at the opening of the trial for sedition of the Rev. A. E. Smith, a noted Communist, charged with stating that tho Premier (Mr. E. B. Bennett) had ordered prison guards to shoot in his cell Tini Buck, Communist leader, who is serving a sentence of seven years for unlawful conspiracy. The associate defence counsel included Leo Gallagher, of California, who defended van dcv Lubbe, beheaded on conviction in the Reichstag fire, trial. Buck was heavily manacled in Courtj awaiting call as a defence witness.
