He loft •■ the printing trade while ■ still young to join Wirths' Circus, practically running away from homo to do so. Some 35 years ago he bocame the firm's advance agent, tho position ho held at the time of his death. He married Miss Barlow, of Christchurcli, and is survived by hor and two children, Mr. Laurie Pctersen and Miss Christina Peterson, of Sydney. His brother, Mr. O. Peterson, and his sister, Mrs. Walter Scott, are residents of Christehurch.1 Mr. Eud Peterseu, another brother, now of Auckland, was formerly manager of tho Liberty Theatre, Christehurch. The following tribute was paid to him says the "Press," by Mr. Stanley Grant, manager of the J. C. Williamson Ltd. New Comic Opera Company, when tho news reached Christchurch:—"He was probably the bestknown advance agent in Now. Zealand and Australia to circus artists and to the general public. What he did not know about tho circus business was not worth knowing. Ho helped largely to make Wirths' tho leading circus of New Zealand and Australia, and ho knew every inch of the ground on which the tents could bo pitched. Moreover, ho had a complete knowledge of all the, requirements of both staff and animals. Tho public have no idea of the amount of work entailed in acting as advance agent for a circus, and Mr. Peterson was very seldom known to mako a mistake. Tho sympathy of the wholo of the 'show profession' will, go out to his relatives, and I am sure that thore will be universal regret at his death."
