ESPERANTO CLUB

The weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club took place last nigiit. Mr. Vornon Leek presiding. In connection with the progress of the international language movement in the Dominion, it was reported that Tsperanto clubs had recently been formed in Wnnganui and Palmerston North The first part of the evening was devoted to tuition, satisfactory progress being made in the various instruction circles. The senior members were grouped round several small tables for conversation practice. The programme in ■ the second part of the evening proved , both instructive and entertaining. Dust, delegate of the Universal Esper- , anto Association, pave an advanced lee- , tnrette in lisneranto to the senior members on "La Distiladd do Karbo," explain- ' ing the various processes in- connection ' with the distillation of coal. Mr. Ber- ! tram Potts presented a resume in Esperanto of the events leading to the Treaty of Waitangi. Mr. Gordon Harkness outlined in Esperanto the wintry conditions which had' prevailed recently in Venice, and read an extract from an Esperanto publication printed in' Germany. In the course of the evening arrangements were made for a special programme to be presented at. the club at the conclusion of classes on March 20.
