INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS

The annual' report of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, which'will be presented at a meeting of the institute this evening, states that the membership of the organisation numbers 278—97 fellows , arid 181 associates, a deci'ease of 13 as compared with the previous year. Eight students and probationers have been registered during the year. , A communication has been received from the Prime Minister stating that a special committee will be appointed, on which the institute will be represented, to frame model bylaws dealing with earthquake resistance. Special sub-committees had been set up, ; the report, records, to prepare a brochure setting out-the advantages to the building owner of" engaging architectural, services in all building operations. The brochure has been completed and is now: being finally revised, and should be available to members very soon. The accounts for the year show an excess of income over expenditure of £472 Cs 6d. The institute's gold medal for 1932 was awarded by' the jury of the R.1.8.A. to Messrs. Gray .young, Morton, and Young for the design of the Wellesley Club building, Wellington. The medal will be presented at the meeting this evening.
