"MASTERED UNEMPLOYMENT"
STATEMENT QUALIFIED
LONDON, February 27.
.Mr. J. H. Thomas, Secretary of State for the Dominions, when questioned regarding the statement attributed to him that "we have mastered-unem-ployment," said that'the remark was taken from the context and should not be judged as an unqualified statement.
"To say wo have mastered the unemployment problem was too silly even for me," he said. "What I emphasised was that we had arrested the tendency of' unemployment. to move upward.'?'
