CALCUTTA, February 27.' The remarkable gallantry of Indian villagers in their continual fight again/it the ravages of 'wild.beasts was illustrated when five villagers were taken to hospital at Calcutta mauled by a leopard, for whom they lay in. wait and attacked only with bare fists. The leopard escaped, and returned to. tho business of cattle-stealing. A Tillagers frequently fight marauding tigers.with sticks.
