DEMAND FOR SHEEPSKINS

Though the demand for all qualities of sheepskins was sound at the usual fortnightly sale of hides and skins held by Wellington woo'lbrokers yesterday,- with fine Wools coming in lor special attention, prices generally were V*d to V&d per pound easier in comparison with recent quota-, tions. Fair-sized catalogues of all grades and descriptions were submitted to the usual bench of buyers. Halfbretls sold up to lid per pound and tine erossbreds to ll'/id. A few consignments of salted were submitted, and there was little change in the prices. There was fairly keen competition for all descriptions of hides, well-conditioned parcels being sought after by the tanners and exporters. Lightweight ox and cow hides sold on par with the last sale, but the heavier grades declined l-8d to J,id. Light yearling appreciated fully %d, whilst the heavier sorts advanced about l-Bd.
