l .-■■•■ LARGELY-ATTENDED FUNERAL Tliero 'was a large attendance this morning at.the funeral of the late Mrs. E. W. Kane/\vife of Mr. E. W. Kane, Clerk of Parliaments. The funeral; cortege left- tho residence, Boltou Street, at BAS a.m., for the Sacred Heart Basilica, where Requiem Mass was celebrated. His' Grace Archbishop O'Shca presided in. the sanctuary. Tho colebrant'was the Rev. Father Dynan, of Jerusalem, Wangauui River. The clergy present included the Very Rev. Dr. Kennedy, S.M., the Rev. Father McCarthy, S.M., and the Rev. Father Cahill, S.M. . ! Tho chief mourners were Mr. E. W. Kane (husband), Mr. F. E. Baume (eldest son)/.and' Mrs. F. E. Baume. Tho pall-bearers were Cay. Dott. G. Forinieholla (Cousulfor Italy), Mr. Armand Nihotte -(Consul for Belgium), Mr. P. Fraser, M.P., Mr. G. Mitchell (chairman Wellington College Board of Governors), Mr. W. H. Denton. (member of the board), and Mr. S. Eichelbaum. Amongst those present were the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes (Prime Minister) and Mrs. Forbes, Sir Michael Myers (Chief Justice); and Lady Myers, Mr. Justice Blair, Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., Mr. W. ,H. Field, M.P., Sir Walter Stringer, Sir Harold Bcauchamp and Lady Beauchamp, Mr. .R. W. Gibbs (chairman of directors, Bank of New Zealand), Mr. W. AVatson,. Mr. A. H. Miles, Mr. F. D. Thomson (Clerk of the Executive Council), Mr. Calvin M. Hitch (United States Consul-General for New Zealand), Professor Rankine Brown, Professor Adamson, Professor Hunter, Mr.. J. Christie, Messrs. J. W. Heenan, J. Prendeville (Crown Law Office), Mr. W. A. Armour Wellington College), F. M. Renncr (Rongotai Boys' College), Mr. Holdsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Malfroy, Mr. A. J. Bcnge (secretary, Education Department), Miss J.'l. Hetherinjrton (Inspector of Secondary Schools), Mrs. John Henderson (representing the Wellington branch of the Leaguo of Nations Union and Women's Service Guild, of which tho late Mrs. Kane was a member), Mr. Chunhow H. Pao (Chinese Consul) and Mrs. Pao, Messrs. A. T. Bothamley, C. M. Bothamley, C. A. Jeffery, C. Beasley, and A. Lake, Mesdames Knox Gilmer, S. Eichelbaum, A. Me Vicar, C. H: Chapman, F. Hay, Clayton, W. Pearcc, J. L. Arcus, A. Longmore, and H. Seaton (representing Honorary Justices' Association). Messages of sympathy were received from Lord Bledisloe, Sir Cecil Day, Sir Walter Carncross (Speaker, Legislative Council), Sir Charles Statham (Speaker, House of Representatives), the Hon. '3. A. Young (Minister of Health), the Hon. R. Masters (Minister of Education), the Hon. J. G. Cobbe (Minister of Justice), Canon James, Rabbi Solomon Katz and Mrs. Katz, Sir Joseph Kinsey (Christchurch), Mr. B. Myers (Auckland), Dr. and Mrs. Lindsay (Auckland), Mr. R. McVeagh (Auckland, and . others. Numerous wreaths wero received from various parts of New Zealand. .■■-• The interment took place at the cemetery., Mount Street, the service at tho . graveside being conducted by the Rev. Father Milligan. '."
