PERMISSION REFUSED
PICTURES ON CHRISTMAS DAY

• CHRISTCHUKCH, This Day. Permission for the screening of motion pictures at any Christehurch theatres on Christmas Day was refused by tho City Council last night. A motion that suitable programmes be permitted on tho evening of Christmas Day was lost by nine votes to eight, and a proposal for both afternoon and evening sessions was more heavily defeated.
