TWO MEN MISSING
DROWNING FEARED
BOAT FOUND WRECKED

AUCKLAND, December 4.
A double drowning tragedy is feared following the finding near Orewa Beach of a wrcokeid 14-foot sailing boat and the body of a small dog. There is no trace of tho owners of tlio boat, two brothers, Thomas Stuart Scott, aged 73, retired chief engineer, Epsom, and .Robert John-Scott, aged 70, retired master mariner, Paumure. The men, accompanied by tho dog, left Mahuraugi on Saturday, November 20, for Auckland, but until the end of last weok little apprehension was felt for their safety. The boat was found last Tuesday. Tho Warkworth police were notified, but, owing to tho rough seas, the boat could not be approached until Thursday. Tho body of the dog was found on Orcwa Beach some days previously. EcsidentS of Mahurangi ,a.nd relatives j of tho two'men are to make a search of the coast and neighbouring islands' tomorrow. It is thought that the boat must have capsized shortly after tho commencement of the voyage. There was a fresh north-east breeze blowing at the time. Both of the missiug men were born at Mahurangi and are sons of the late Captain Thomas Scott, formerly in the service of the Northern Company. They had spent the greater part of their lives.at, sea. Mr. Thomas Scott was for many years an engineer on Union Company boats. He-was chief engineer on the Moeniki and then on the Mnraina. Mr. Robert, Scott u-;is until tho time of his retirement a few years ago-iii the service of tho Northern Company, and served on several of the company's vessels. . . •
