LORRY OVER A BANK

DRIVER KILLED INSTANTLY

NELSON, This Day.

Charles Dean, aged 33, a married man without any children, was killed instantly yesterday when a loaded gravel truck, which he was driving, went over a bank on the Hope Saddle while passing a car. The track was smashed in pieces. A passenger, William Evans, who was injured, was sent to hospital.

Tho deceased was an Australian who had been in New Zealand for two years. The truck fell 70ft before the men were thrown clear, but the vehicle hurtled on down the slope for a considerable distance.
