CHRISTCHURCH TO DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN, November 29,
Hiding under favourable conditions, L. G. Fleming, a well-known Canterbury cyclist, completed the.long journey from Christchurch to Dunedin in excellent time today, breakirig the previous record by abpufc thirty minutes.
He left C'hristchurch at 4.5 a.m., reached Geraldine 4 hours 48 minutes later, and arrived in Dunedin ibefore, sunset.; I^e was given a reception by a number o£ cyclists. A decision to hold tlie annual conference of the life-saS'ing head" centres at Auckland at the time of thte surf ehanipionships was made at the annual meeting of .the New Zealand Council of the -Royal Life-saving Society last night, according to a Ghristchurch Press Association message.
