BYRD EXPEDITION
CALL AT WELLINGTON ONLY
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, November 29,
Dunedin is to have only one Antarctic expedition this year. Definite advice has been received by Mr. J. H. Duncan, manager for H. C. Tapley and Co., that tho Byrd expedition will not'make a call at Dunedin on its way south, but will take on its stores, etc., at Wellington. This is chiefly, on account of the fact that a good deal of time has been lost on the voyage from the United States, Bear-Admiral Byrd being anxious to reach Antarctica as soon as possible.
In the .meantime work is steadily proceeding1 aboard the Ellsworth expedition ship Wyatt Earp, which will probably leavo Dunedin for the Bay of Whales early next week.
