ORAL SURGERY
LEVIN BOY'S APPOINTMENT
A former pupil of the Levin Public School and Wellington College, who left New Zealand in 1910 to study dentistry in America has done so well in his profession that he has been appointed to tho chair of oral surgery in the School of Dentistry of Temple University, after having been for 17 years director of the oral surgery service of tho Pennsylvania Hospital. He is Dr. James E. Cameron, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Cameron, Hiropi Street, Wellington. Although he is a native of Brisbane, Dr. Cameron came to New Zealand with his parents when ho was two years old. After being under Mr. J. Mclntyre in the Levin School, he went to Wellington Cbllege, where he had the lato Mr. J. P. Firth as his headmaster. At an early age he showed exceptional promise as a dentist and on the advice of a Levin practitioner he was sent to Philadelphia to study for his D.D.S. degree. When the war broke out he endeavoured to leave America, but was not allowed to do so, and when America j declared war he was given a commission in the Army Dental Corps, in which he served for two years. Not until 18 years after Dr. Cameron left New Zealand was he able to make a trip home, to visit his parents.
