INSTITUTE BIRTHDAY

NEARLY 200 GUESTS

The Paraparaiimu Women's Institute celebrated its fourth anniversary on Wednesday last, in the Coronation Hall, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Mrs. Brown presided over about one hundred and eighty guests. Visiting members came. froni surrounding districts, including the HUtt. A telegram from Mrs. Kelso containing birthday greetings was read.

A fine musical programme was enjoyed. Pianoforto, solos were played by Mrs. Mills; solos wero sung by Mrs. Clarke and Miss Kythe Maclver; a pianoforte duet was given by the (Misses Eeeve and a vocal duet by Mrs. Clarke and Miss Joan Burgess; recitations were supplied by Mrs. Sherring .and a violin solo by Miss Lang. Miss J. Burgess played accompaniments. A humorous play followed, entitled "Bill Breaks Out." The.,players were Mesdames Burgess, ' Sherring, . Clarke, Misses Lynch and Beeve. Miss, Maddever gave :a talk which included cheerful anecdotes, and was heartily applauded. : Tea was served by Mesdames. MacIsaacs, Fitchett, Shepherd, Beckett, and Miss B. Maclean. ,■":."
