An impressive scene was witnessed at. Lourdes with 10,000 war veterans praying before the Grotto of the Virgin at a pilgrimage organised by priests /who had ministertd to the soldiers' in wartime. Some wore scathless, merely fulfilling1 battlefield vows, but *the majority were sufferers from, gas and shellshock. Some were beyond any aid. The Archbishop of Lille celebrated k' ' Pontificial 'Mass in the open air.
