FIRST SOCIAL EVENING
IMPRESSIVE TABLEAU
i A spectacular tableau ■was presented at the Youth Peace Crusade's first social . evening, held in Miss Zena Clarke's gymnasium ou Saturday evening. The tableau, in which about thirty mombOi-s took part, represented the outlawry of war in a marriage ceremony between Miss Geneva Covenant and Mr. Kellogg Pact, all nations placing their swords at the feet of Peace. The players were charmingly costumed and made an impressive group._ A varied programme of dancing and novelty items was enjoyed, and a delicious savoury supper was served. The committee comprised Misses Mar■jorie Stiles (organising secretary), Elsie Jeffrey, Zena Clarke, Beatrice Taylor, Messrs. G. Thomas, T. Simpson, and J. Brodie. Among those present were Mesdames Rupert Knowles (who wore black floral chiffon), J. 1. King (floral flat crepe), and Mclntosh (Devonshire cream velvet): Misses Marjorie Stiles (shell pink needlethread lace), I. Spidy (meadow <*reen lace and organdie), Alison McNicol, Joyce Mayer (cameo pink lace), Marion Mayer (turquoise needlethread lace), Rene Cook (geranium red velvet), Z". Clarke (blue and white chevron striped frock), -N- Hallard (cream and brown checked silk gown and coateo), M. Rule (cherry velvet), J. Rule (powder blue velvet), Peggy Reed (black ring velvet), Ngaere Horton (white muslin spotted with green), Agnes Page (gold spotted net over satin), Beatrice Taylor (black ring velvet), Pearl Brodie (French blue georgette), Marguerito Webb (white and blue flowered organdie), Pearl McKenzio (powder blue georgette), Phyllis Read (black floral ninon);.
