WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
VISIT OF PRESIDENT
The Stokes Valley Women's Institute had an. informal visit from the Federation President at their recent meeting. The president (Mrs. Huse) welcomed Miss Maddevcr and all new and old members.
•Miss Maddever gave a most interesting talk on the Otaki Conference held recently and said that she Was proud of the keen interest taken by the institutes. She also gave a demonstration of economical "bias binding" and was awarded with a floral token in appreciatian and thanks.
Mrs. Kicliardson (of Silverstream) gave a clever demonstration of making presents from pine cones, many beautiful things being eshibited. A hearty vote of thanks was passed and Mrs. Bichardson received a small nosegay of flowers. The competition, "The best pine needle basket," was won by Mrs. Williamson and Miss McGregor. .:. ■
The hostesses for the-afternoon were Mrs. Pethcriek, Miss McGregor, ; and Miss Young. ■ ■ ...'
