Addjess on the Eye. An interesting talk on the subject of the eye was given at a recent meeting of the Lyall Bay-Kilbirnie League of Mothers, by Mrs. Suckling, who demonstrated with a model the control of. the eye by nerves and muscles and spoke of the importance of having the sight corrected when necessary, especially in children. Mrs. E. W. B. Young, who presided, moved a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker, which was carried by acclamation. . Mrs. East sang two charming songs and tea was served by the committee. The Executive Committee of tho Society for the Protection of Women and Children me.t last week, when it was decided to hold the annual meeting tomorrow evening in the Teachers' Institute, "Evening Post" Buildings. As this date coincided with the return of Mrs. M. 11. Chatfield, J.P., from her tour abroad, it was arranged to make the evening a social one, and to take the opportunity to offer Mrs. Chatneld a warm welcome back to New Zealand. The Executive Committee elected her as president for the coming year subject to her approval and to the ratification of tho appointment by the annual meeting. The hope was expressed that many of Mrs. Chatfiold's friends would attend the annual meeting. Fancy Fair at Newtown. Tho Blue Sisters of Lewishani Hospital wish to remind their many friends of the fancy fair to be opened tomorrow afternoon in St. Anne's Hall, Newtown. Some very fine work will be on sale, and there will be an abundance of produce and pantry necessities. As funds are urgently needed for the hos' pital, it is hoped that large numbers will avail themselves of such an excellent shopping opportunity. ..'..' Old People Entertained, A concert party organised by Miss .Vera Boesley visited the Home for Aged Needy, Wellington South, recently. Tho programme, of music, songs, dancing, and sketches submitted found an appreciative audience. Mr. A. Haley presided. After a dainty supper, provided by the visitors, Mr. H. Lancaster, on behalf of the matron (Miss E. Mackay) and residents, thanked all who had taken part in preparing such an enjoyablo entertainment. The concert party comprised Mesdamcs D. Benson, A.
