WINDY WEATHER

BUT FAIR TO FINE

According to the weather forecast issued at noon; today the weather in western districts will be clpudy and scattered rain will fall in south Otago and Southland, but elsewhere conditions should remain fair to fine and milder temperatufes may be expected. Winds at first to the north of New Plymouth and Napier will be light to moderate southerlies, but they; will gradually veer to the north-west. Elsewhere moderate to strong north-westerly winds will prevail and in places will Teach gale force. A change to the southwest, however, may ,be expected by-to-night in southern districts; Practically the whole of New Zealand enjoyed, fine weather yesterday while a moderate anticyclone was making its way eastward across the country. South-westerly winds continued to prevail over most of "the North Island, but from Wellington southward there was a freshening of north-west-erly winds and a consequent rise in temperatures. A fairly deep westerly depression has now moved on to the South Island, but so far, although cloud has increased in western districts, there has been . very little rain accompanying it. Auckland, like all the other main centres, enjoyed fine weather yesterday, conditions being clear and sunny, although cool owing to'the rather cold south-westerly wind which prevailed. Conditions in Auckland this morning were overcast. , » In spite of. a certain chilliness about the atmosphere, Wellington had a petfeet day, the sun shining continuously from a sky of an unusually deep blue. Scarcely a cloud was to be seen all daj. Tho morning's- light north-eastorly wind changed in the afternoon to a freshening north-westerly. Conditions this morning were again fine and sunny 'with a northerly wind. Christchurch had a mild and sunny day with a strong easterly breeze. Conditions there this morning were overcast, warm, and, sultry. Dunedin's weather yesterday was fine with a north-easterly breeze.
