FOR THE TASMAN TRADE
According to advice received from Melbourne the steamer Abel Tasinan left there on October 12 for Newcastle for bunkers prior to loading in Australia and entering tho Tasman trade. She will take a cargo of hardwood on board at Woolgoolga and Coif's Harbour for Auckland and Wellington and is expected to arrive in New Zealand waters about the end of tho month. The Abel Tasman was recently j painted and 'reconditioned, and she is I intended to run regularly between Ausjtralia and the Dominion. She was purchased some months-ago by the Sydney firm of H. C Sleigh and is nowregistered in Melbourne. She carries a crew of 29, including the master. Captain C. G. Turner. The Abel Tasman which was first named Mont Blanc, and lator Nord, was built at Ambacht, Holland, in 1916. She is- fitted with wireless and electric light and-is classed Al at Lloyd's. Her previous owners were the Jac. Engcrs Steamship; Company, Tonsberg, Norway, and she arrived at Melbourne early last month with a cargo of Baltic timber for discharge. Holm and Company are the local agents for the vessel.
