KOBE, October.2o. At 1 o 'clock today the Yashima Maru, an old torpedo-boat converted into a passenger vessel, and running between Bcppu Spa and Osaka, suddenly broke up and sank while en route to Kobe with 154 passengers. Several steamers are searching, but the weather is violent and few have been picked up so far.

The Yashima Maru. (ex Lanbya, ex Sunflower), 847 tons, was built by Henderson's, of Glasgow, in 1915, and owned by the Osaka Shosen K.K.
