MOTUEKA BY-ELECTION
» ' - - - - ECHO IN THE HOUSE
The contention that some of the statements made by members of the Government during tho Motueka byelection did not reflect any credit on those members who had uttered them was made by Mr. J. O'Brien (Labour, Westland) in the House of Bepresentatives last night. He said that a number of members of .the Coalition had, taken part in the Motueka by-election, and the statements they had put forth had not reflected anything to their credit. Even tho promises they, had made were not creditable. He had thought that members of a responsible Government when they came before any constituency should show some sense of honour and decency. During tho Motueka by-elec-tion he had found himself confronted with statements which had been refuted arid absolutely disproved twenty years ago.
