Eighteen hundred delegates from all parts of Britain were present. A letter from Sir Austen Chamberlain, who was unable to attend, was read at the opening. . It urged the importance of the Conservative^ Party continuing to promote a national policy, and supporting the National Government in theso difficult times. ■
