(By Telegrapn.—Pre» association.) CHRISTCHUBCH, This Day. Piecework will bo introduced on the Ashley unemployment relief job on Monday, and similar conditions will be enforced on the Waimakariri Eivcr Trust's undertakings on Thursday. The men in the Ashley camp will be divided into gangs, each gang being allotted a task for a given period. They will be paid as soon as the work is completed, irrespective ,of whether or not it takes several days short of the period 'theyi would normally work. The amount of work allotted is being made modest. It was pointed out in official circles that the new system was not a straightout contract job, for tho men could not work for more than their present allocation. Tho engineer of tho Waimakariri Trust said the trust was aiming to mako the pieco rates very liberal, taking consideration of the fact that a great mjmber of men are unused to labouring work. ■
