WINDY WEATHER
STILL; FAIR TO FINE
'Today's -weather forecast is for moderate to strong northerly to.northwesterly winds, which, in places in and south of Cook Strait, will reach, gale forco at times. Although tho weather in western districts from Taranaki southward, and in far southern districts will be cloudy to overcast with scattered rain, elsewhere conditions will remain faif to fine with mild temperatures. The meteorological situation over the Dominion is still controlled by an intense anticyclone, the centre of which this morning lay to the east of the Auckland peninsula; Hence there has been a continuance of find and mild weather in most districts. The pafisage of a slight depression in tho south has caused winds to freshen from a northerly ov north-westerly direction, and rain has fallen in a few_ places in western and far southern districts of the South Island. A fairly intense depression is /moving off south-eastern Australia on to the Tasman Sea.. Unless, this depression obligingly fills up before reaching New Zealand, the outlook for fine weather over the -weekend is not particularly promising. Auckland had another fine and clear day yesterday with a light northerly wind. • Conditions in Wellington yesterday weio warm and sunny, 10 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. A fresh north-westerly wind prevailed, and this by this morning had increased in force. : Christchurch had a dull and warm day and night with very little wind. JDunodin, too, had dull and warm weather, with occasional light showers and a light northerly wind.
