SANDHILLS GOLD MINING.
Sandhills Gold Mining Company, Ltd., .Dunedin, has elected 'directors and approved a prospectus offering 100,000 shares o£ Is each to the public. Mr. Robert Lee, chairman, explained •work already done in connection with the diversion channel by ■which thirty-five chains of the Shotover Gorge ■would be dewatered and made available for mining. This diversion cut had necessitated removal of more than 1,250,000 | yards of material, and nil that remained [to be done to turn the viver into its | new course was construction of a barrage. When''this, work was completed there would be available for mining thirtyfive chairs of the Shotover Gorge which was believed to be practically virgin ground; ' TALISMAN DUBBO. Talisman Dnbbo, Karangahakc, reports for the week ending September 30 stoping i continued over back of No. 1 Talisman level. Reef disturbed and broken at this point, but improving in back of stope. Reef is 18in wide and is of very fair value. Over 40 tons of ore are broken ready, to be sent to the battery. MATAKI RETURN. . The dredge superintendent of Mataki Gold1 Dredging, Ltd., Murchison, reports that 9500 yards were treated in 124 hours for 34 ounces retorted gold. KING SOLOMON. Directors of King Solomon Deep Lead, Ltd., report on operations for six months ended August 31 last as follows:—During period under review a total of ISoOoz of gold wag obtained from the mine, as against 17780z for the previous half-year. The weekly returns .'have varied considerably, but the average (over 71oz) is undoubtedly very satisfactory. Good results were obtained during March, but in April ifc became evident that a good deal of development work was required. The general development of the mine was then resumed, drives being tarried out to the north. Good wash, varying in height from 2ft- to Mt, was encountered, and better returns were secured. During August the weekly returns'averaged over lOOoz,'^nd on September 1 a new record of 1930z was set. This last return was of couvr6 obtained after the end of the financial period, and is not included in the balancesheet figures. At the beginning of September the directors were able to declare a second dividend of 2u per cent., payable on September 30. SKIPPERS, LTD. An order has been placed with a New Zealand' firm for the supply of 1950 feet of fluming of an approximate value of £9000 for use in connection with the scheme of Skippers, Ltd., for the temporary diversion of the Shotover River. Delivery will be made about the end of November.
