HUTT VALLEY CLUB'S RACE
The Hutt Valley Cycling Club held a 35 miles road race on Saturday afternoon. About 35 riders faced the starter the scratch bunch including Giles, from Christchurch, ex-New Zealand champion. _ On the outward journey a strong head iviud made the going difficult, but on the way back'some fast riding was seen. Ine scratch men did not settle down to the iob too well, and they were not in the picture for time honours. A number of riders were together at. the turning point, and there was a iirstclass sprint at'the finish. Results were as follows: — P. Percival (s%min), lhr 34mm 40eec 1 J. Bolton (4min), lhr 33min 10 l-ssec 2 R. Dutton (B%min), lhr 37min 40 2-ssec 3 Fastest Times.—W. Laskey (2niin), lhr SOmin 10 2-ssec, 1; G. Stavely (3min), lhr 32min 10 4-ssec, 2; H. Houston (3min), 1 hr 32min llsee, 3. Punctures gave trouble to several of the back markers, O. Disley, L. W. Sowerby, and A. Sowerby having to withdraw. The Wellington Cycling Centre is to hold a 35 miles open race at Petone on Saturday next. Entries close- on Wednesday. No post entries will be received.
