FIRST DIVISION
AN EASY WIN
At no stage of their game with Technical Old Boys at North Park, Petone, on Saturday, did Petone look like being beaten. Throughout both spells they 'had practically everything their own way,' and if they had- wanted to they could have doubled the score of 7-0 in their favour. To all intents and- purp6ses football ceased half-way through the second spell, and Col- the remainder of the game the crowd was' entertained .by the antics of the Petone backs and halves failing to score. 'The teams were:— Technical Old Boys: Be\h Taylor, Lognuda; Ogg, Godtechalk, Pullen; Griffiths, Caisley, Gates, Torrington, and Guise. PctonerMcVean; Eiddolls, Haines; Smith, Campbell, Cameron; Dunlop, Watson, Leslie, Woods, and Craig. Technical took the~ field with five of their regular players absent, the places being filled by four juniors and a fourthgrade man. Right from the start there was only one team in the picture. Petouo were on the attack most, of the match; Technical rallied ou a few' occaeions, but their efforts proved abortive. Several wild shots at goal by the Petone men weut amiss early, and then Technical were penalised ou the left wing. Dunlop sent in a dropping shot which Campbell headed into the net; then from a corner Technical had a narrow escape, and a little later Leslie came up to score well. Sporadic movements followed until once more Leslie went through the opposition in fine style and slammed in the leather from close range. At half-time the score was atill Petone 3, Technical 0. A few changes in the Technical eleven seemed to put new life into them for a few moments after resumption, but coon Petone came back wjth a rush to complete the massacre. A mistake by the Old Boys backs let Leslie in to finish oft Ins "hat Trick," and then in rapid succession, Woods, Craig, and Campbell scored. Many other opportunities went to waste. After a few more attempts at team-work Petone abandoned all pretence of settling down and were content to kick the ball around the ground until time went. The referee was Mr. «J. Sanderson.
